Post 6: Sir

This is my next post for 9x9x25. This may be a little disjointed, but that’s how it happened in real life. When I first started teaching, I taught five classes a week and had a mixture of domestic and international students. Things went really well, I enjoyed teaching, and was having a lot of fun. The only thing that drove me crazy was when people called me Sir. I mean, how old did they think I was? Who did I […]

Reflections on Fijian Education

During a recent trip to Fiji celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary, my wife and I were lucky enough to visit a local primary school. It had roughly 200 students with a class for each year level. It is always interesting appreciating learning in different contexts. It highlights some things that we take for granted. Digital Mindfulness, Can It Exist?

Would the World Be Better without Mobile Devices?

This post started as a response to a possible future of technology. However, it grew and grew, so I have split it up. John Philpin recently wrote a response to a post from John Harris I shared discussing the destructive nature of mobile phones. He asked: If we didn’t have them … what would the […]

Post 2: The Show

My second post for 9 X 9 X 25. I thought about this while responding to my colleague Jessica’s comment on post #1. If you have no yet had a chance to read it, I suggest making your way over there and checking it out. It even has a pirate joke. I assume you just read the first post, laughed at the pirate joke (they are a source of happiness) and have come back to hear my thoughts on the show. […]

Post 1: You can do whatever you like

This is my first post for 9 X 9 X 25. Mea culpa. I tried waiting for October, but it seems I just had to get this down as I was mulling it over while racing between meetings today. I am sure I will make it up with the next. I know it sounds simple, but I really had no idea what I wanted to write about. So I naturally did what I usually do, I hit the reply button […]
